Searching for the best web hosting?

Is it the heat of internet or is it just a trend nowadays but every person and business houses have published or are at least planning to publish a website. And why not? Websites have become the most effective, cheapest and easiest means of communication, promotion, advertisement, and marketing, leaving all its competitors far behind. People these days surf over the internet more than they watch TV, read newspaper or listen to radio. Internet has become their favourite time pass.

But have you ever wondered where these sites actually reside? Where should we put the pages so that it is accessible from all over the world? Well, the answer is we have to host the website. It might look like a simple straight forward answer but the real deal is really very complicated than that. Web Hosting is one of the sickest things to look for. Just a quick search in a search engine and millions of web hosting solutions will be listed. Selections from among them will take you more than a month. By just browsing through their site, you won’t get much of an idea as it’s their site and they won’t be writing anything negative on their own site. So the best way I guess is through the reviews on those companies from others who have uses its services.

WebHostingGeeks.com is such a site where you will get real and unbiased customer reviews of major web hosting companies. My personal experience is that in most of such review sites, the posts are all positive which are leading the customers nowhere but Web Hosting Geeks make sure that the real reviews collected whether they are positive or negative. After reading the web hosting reviews here, customers will get a clear idea which one is the best web hosting that matches their criteria. Also there is web hosting articles section which installs lots of goodies related to web hosting for the novices.

Microsoft will not run for Yahoo anymore

It’s been more that 3 months that Microsoft has been running after Yahoo to compete against the king of internet advertising – Google. Before it had offered the bid of $44.6bn but after Yahoo rejected the offer Microsoft raised its offer to $47.5bn (£24.1bn) which is around $33 per share. Still when Yahoo showed no interest of any kind and was asking for a bid not less than $53bn, or $37 a share, Microsoft finally had to let it go. Now it looks like Google will continue its domination in the world of internet advertising for some more years.

Here is the copy of letter from Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to Yahoo! CEO Jerry Yang.

May 3, 2008

Mr. Jerry Yang
CEO and Chief Yahoo
Yahoo! Inc.
701 First Avenue
Sunnyvale, CA 94089

Dear Jerry:

After over three months, we have reached the conclusion of the process regarding a possible combination of Microsoft and Yahoo!.

I first want to convey my personal thanks to you, your management team, and Yahoo!’s Board of Directors for your consideration of our proposal. I appreciate the time and attention all of you have given to this matter, and I especially appreciate the time that you have invested personally. I feel that our discussions this week have been particularly useful, providing me for the first time with real clarity on what is and is not possible.

I am disappointed that Yahoo! has not moved towards accepting our offer. I first called you with our offer on January 31 because I believed that a combination of our two companies would have created real value for our respective shareholders and would have provided consumers, publishers, and advertisers with greater innovation and choice in the marketplace. Our decision to offer a 62 percent premium at that time reflected the strength of these convictions.

In our conversations this week, we conveyed our willingness to raise our offer to $33.00 per share, reflecting again our belief in this collective opportunity. This increase would have added approximately another $5 billion of value to your shareholders, compared to the current value of our initial offer. It also would have reflected a premium of over 70 percent compared to the price at which your stock closed on January 31. Yet it has proven insufficient, as your final position insisted on Microsoft paying yet another $5 billion or more, or at least another $4 per share above our $33.00 offer.

Also, after giving this week’s conversations further thought, it is clear to me that it is not sensible for Microsoft to take our offer directly to your shareholders. This approach would necessarily involve a protracted proxy contest and eventually an exchange offer. Our discussions with you have led us to conclude that, in the interim, you would take steps that would make Yahoo! undesirable as an acquisition for Microsoft.

We regard with particular concern your apparent planning to respond to a “hostile” bid by pursuing a new arrangement that would involve or lead to the outsourcing to Google of key paid Internet search terms offered by Yahoo! today. In our view, such an arrangement with the dominant search provider would make an acquisition of Yahoo! undesirable to us for a number of reasons:

  • First, it would fundamentally undermine Yahoo!’s own strategy and long-term viability by encouraging advertisers to use Google as opposed to your Panama paid search system. This would also fragment your search advertising and display advertising strategies and the ecosystem surrounding them. This would undermine the reliance on your display advertising business to fuel future growth.
  • Given this, it would impair Yahoo’s ability to retain the talented engineers working on advertising systems that are important to our interest in a combination of our companies.
  • In addition, it would raise a host of regulatory and legal problems that no acquirer, including Microsoft, would want to inherit. Among other things, this would consolidate market share with the already-dominant paid search provider in a manner that would reduce competition and choice in the marketplace.
  • This would also effectively enable Google to set the prices for key search terms on both their and your search platforms and, in the process, raise prices charged to advertisers on Yahoo. In addition to whatever resulting legal problems, this seems unwise from a business perspective unless in fact one simply wishes to use this as a vehicle to exit the paid search business in favor of Google.
  • It could foreclose any chance of a combination with any other search provider that is not already relying on Google’s search services.

Accordingly, your apparent plan to pursue such an arrangement in the event of a proxy contest or exchange offer leads me to the firm decision not to pursue such a path. Instead, I hereby formally withdraw Microsoft’s proposal to acquire Yahoo!.

We will move forward and will continue to innovate and grow our business at Microsoft with the talented team we have in place and potentially through strategic transactions with other business partners.

I still believe even today that our offer remains the only alternative put forward that provides your stockholders full and fair value for their shares. By failing to reach an agreement with us, you and your stockholders have left significant value on the table.

But clearly a deal is not to be.

Thank you again for the time we have spent together discussing this.

Sincerely yours,

Steven A. Ballmer
Chief Executive Officer
Microsoft Corporation

Drive traffic to your site

Nowadays, everyone’s in a rush to put a website for their company or organization over the internet. And why not, it’s the most popular means or advertisement and also the demand of new technology. People are much used to web-based advertisement and publicity than the traditional ads of newspapers, radio and TV. But just putting up a web site isn’t really the objective of anyone. It’s there for a reason most likely the reason to attract the customer of the specific niche which can be achieved only if the site attracts a huge amount of traffic. Just leaving the website isn’t going to do anything unless you do some marketing again to make your site famous.

There are many ways though to attract traffic/visits to your website. One of the ways is by improving your backlinks. The most popular means of this is through social bookmarking submission. By submitting your site to social bookmarkings like del.icio.us, Furl, Digg, Shoutwire, etc., it will naturally attract backlinks for your web page. Readers who find your site on social bookmarking sites are likely to link to your site from their own blogs & sites which in turn will drive traffic to your site. You can manually submit your site to such bookmarkings but if you don’t have time and expertise for that then there are social bookmark submission services such as by SocialBookmarkSubmission.com which for a certain charge will submit your site to many social bookmarking sites in appropriate category with appropriate keywords. And once you’ve got decent regular traffic, your business isn’t far away to blast.

Sony Ericsson W890

I’ve always been a Nokia fan but this time I have to hand it over to Sony for its W890. It’s slim, classy, got clean-cut lines, massive 2GB storage add-on, 3.2 mega pixel camera and sound of a walkman. Let me tell you, if I didn’t have a mobile phone then this probably would have been in my pocket.

Key features

  • Extra slim body with solid construction
  • Quad-band GSM
  • HSDPA, EDGE, HSCSD, Bluetooth (with A2DP)
  • Location services, Smart search, Manage messages
  • Media center, Walkman 3.0, SensMe tempo and mood detector, TrackID
  • Access NetFront 3.4 with mouse pointer and in-page search
  • 3.2 megapixel camera with Cyber-shot SE v2.0 UI
  • Fast photo browser
  • FM radio with RDS
  • 2GB M2 card included
  • New improved battery cover release mechanism
  • Finger print resistant body panels

But again nothing comes perfect. With some features it has got some big drawbacks too.

Drawbacks

  • Only 26 MB of user available internal memory
  • No camera autofocus, no flash
  • No skins for the Walkman player

So, read the review and forget about it if you don’t think it was useful. There are still more to come.

Ticket to Wrangler National Finals Rodeo

Rodeo is a game that started off from Spain, Mexico, and later caught fire in the United States, Canada, South America and Australia. I’ve never actually been to a Rodeo but I’ve seen pretty much of its actions in ESPN and in Hollywood movies too. In a way I’m very much fascinated by this unusual sport and someday I hope to go and see the action up and live from the front.

One of the most popular of the rodeo is Wrangler National Finals Rodeo also known as WNFR or NFR; the “Super Bowl of Rodeo” is organized by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association at Las Vegas, Nevada, USA each year in the first full week of December. I’m sure no fan of rodeo will ever wanna miss out on this. But this is one of the biggest rodeo events in US and it doesn’t get better than this. Rodeo fans from all over the world come to see this event, so finding a seat for you can be very difficult. But if you really don’t want to miss out on this event, you don’t need to worry. TeamOneTickets.com is at your service to get you your National Rodeo Finals tickets. Team One Tickets is considered as one of the leading providers of WNFR tickets supplying many hundreds of N.F.R. tickets to hundreds of Nationals Final Rodeo ticket fans throughout the U.S. and Canada each year. There are no "service charges" or "connection fees" during your checkout process with it. The only thing you pay in addition to the ticket prices is a small delivery charge and that’s it. So, check out their site if you are in need of tickets. I know you don't want to wait in line for hours and still leave empty handed.

The popularity of online games

Since the ancient age, games have been one of the popular means of entertainment for people of all age groups and the trend still lives. Still people take games as a mean of entertainment and to cope with boredom. The type of games and the tools though have changed due to many factors like time limit, money, space, etc. giving rise to computer games. There is no need of lot of cash, space, time or even a partner. Even if you are alone you can still play one on one versus the computer. But it’s a little unfair to play against the artificial intelligence; still there are so many multiplayer games that you can have fun with your friends and colleagues.

One problem with big computer games is that they need to be installed in the PC but what if you are at work, or in some other place. You can’t always carry an installation CD with you. So, online games became popular due to this reason. There is no need for any type of installation to be done. They are small flash games and the only thing that you need is an internet connection and a flash enabled web-browser. I too am a big fan of such miniclip games. They are so funny and there are lots of games to choose from. My favorites are the puzzle games and the card games and one of my personal fav site is Online-Games-Zone.com where I usually play online games. I’m sure you’ll like it too so be sure you check it out.

Using the MouseKeys

Using the MouseKeys

It was just a few days ago that I had written a post on “using keyboard to perform mouse function”. Still, I heard from some of my readers that they are having difficulties with using the MouseKeys for performing various functions like clicking and dragging. Moving the cursor is pretty much simple though:

To move the mouse pointer by using MouseKeys:

Use the buttons on the numeric keypad to move the mouse pointer.

o To move the pointer horizontally or vertically, press the arrow keys on your numeric keypad.

o To move the pointer diagonally, press HOME, END, PAGE UP, or PAGE DOWN on your numeric keypad.

To click by using MouseKeys:

Use the buttons on the numeric keypad to click, double-click, or right-click. If MouseKeys doesn't function, press NUM LOCK, and then try MouseKeys again.

o To click, press 5 on your numeric keypad.

o To double-click, press the plus sign (+) on your numeric keypad.

o To right-click, press the minus sign (-) on your numeric keypad, and then press 5 to click, or press the plus sign (+) to double-click.

o To click as if you were using both mouse buttons at once, press the asterisk (*) on your numeric keypad, and then press 5 to click or the plus sign (+) to double-click.

o To switch back to standard clicking, press slash (/) on your numeric keypad.

To drag by using MouseKeys:

Use the buttons on the numeric keypad to drag and drop objects.

o To move the pointer over the object you want to move or over the area you want to move to, press the arrow keys on your numeric keypad.

o To hold down the mouse button, press the INSERT key on your numeric keypad.

o To release the mouse button, press the DELETE key on your numeric keypad.
