Sony Ericsson W890

I’ve always been a Nokia fan but this time I have to hand it over to Sony for its W890. It’s slim, classy, got clean-cut lines, massive 2GB storage add-on, 3.2 mega pixel camera and sound of a walkman. Let me tell you, if I didn’t have a mobile phone then this probably would have been in my pocket.

Key features

  • Extra slim body with solid construction
  • Quad-band GSM
  • HSDPA, EDGE, HSCSD, Bluetooth (with A2DP)
  • Location services, Smart search, Manage messages
  • Media center, Walkman 3.0, SensMe tempo and mood detector, TrackID
  • Access NetFront 3.4 with mouse pointer and in-page search
  • 3.2 megapixel camera with Cyber-shot SE v2.0 UI
  • Fast photo browser
  • FM radio with RDS
  • 2GB M2 card included
  • New improved battery cover release mechanism
  • Finger print resistant body panels

But again nothing comes perfect. With some features it has got some big drawbacks too.

Drawbacks

  • Only 26 MB of user available internal memory
  • No camera autofocus, no flash
  • No skins for the Walkman player

So, read the review and forget about it if you don’t think it was useful. There are still more to come.

Put a skin over your iPod, MP3 player, mobiles and laptops

Nowadays mobiles, iPods, MP3 player, all these gadgets are very common. Almost everyone carries them in their pocket but due to the lack of variety (usually in iPod designs), most of them look same. Mobiles and MP3 player at least have some variety than iPods. Sometimes I hate to see the same iPod and mobile that I have with my friends. It’s just so annoying. That’s why I have put a skin over my iPod and cell phone. Doing this, my gadgets look quite different and cool too. I usually change the skins in a month or a two so that I don’t get bored with the same look.

Recently, I’ve found out about this cool site – SkinIt.com that delivers a vast variety of artistic skins to decorate your iPod, MP3 player or any other favorite gadgets. I’m mostly impressed by the sporty iPod skins collection that they have. I have put a Celtics skin in my iPod and I’m planning to change it to Spurs next month. Don’t worry!!! These skins are so easy to apply and remove. They don’t even leave a trace. SkinIt also provide the feature of creating your own design. If you think that you are creative enough to make your own design, you can do it at SkinIt. Also you can suggest a device or a brand that you’d like to see supported by this site. So, what are you waiting for? Buy some clothes for your iPod and mobile.

Avot mV for all Web Enabled Phones

As I must have already mentioned I’ve got a Nokia 6230. I bought it some four or five years ago. At that time it was very popular and expensive too. Tom Cruise had that mobile in some movie … MI2 as far as I remember. There weren’t many like it and it was really cool to have that mobile at that time. Tables have really been turned since then. I’ve been hearing a lot about Windows mobile phones and other N-Series mobile sets and what they can do and while listening to what people are talking it seems like my mobile is out of date and I have to throw it off somewhere.

Anyways, about a month ago I heard about this unique video delivery platform for web enabled phones, iPhone/iPod Touch called Avot mV which enables users to search, personalize and play videos from all over the Internet. I had mentioned about it in my previous posts too. Avot mV is the first of its kind that gives mobile users unlimited access to any web-based videos. Its intelligent search capability incorporates personal preferences so that users can quickly discover and choose from among billions of videos posted on the Web. Also it lets you organize the videos in the internet in the playlist and watch them on the go. Actually turns your mobile phone into a kind of entertainment jukebox allowing you to watch what you want and when you want. And you don’t even need to convert the selected videos to the mobile format. Cool huh?

Well, at that time it was in testing phase limited to certain web enabled mobile phones only and there were many questions that were being raised regarding it’s compatibility with other mobile sets and whether it will be available to other sets such as Motorola Razor, Samsung Sync, LG/Treo or not? Good news is that now it works on your RAZR, iPhone, N75 and many others web enabled phone and they have also added few new features like “Active Search” and “Merlin” which are very similar to features of desktop applications.

Through Active Search, the system basically search through the video index as the user types providing a best fit match. So, only with a few key strokes you can find your favorite video. Merlin is another key feature that enables us to make personalized recommendations to video viewers. More on these features can be found out in Avot mV’s official blog.

Overall, I think Avot mV is a pretty unique innovation that helps to achieve real-time streaming and personalization of video delivery to web-enabled mobile devices and I really look forward to using it in my mobile too. May be I won’t throw it out then. And don’t forget to check out Avot mV’s Product Site and its Corporate Site for details.

Mobile Ringtones

Today we will write a post about the great influence of ringtones to the mobile technology! Noone can deny that ringtones are highly connected to the mobile phones technology. First, we had some simple monophonic ringtones, but this wouldn’t be enough! While the mobile phones were becoming more luxurious, with better screens etc, new types of ringtones appeared! Wav ringtones, polyphonic ringtones, midi ringtones became necessary for your mobile to sound unique!

Then the creation of big memory cards, made possible the use of mp3 ringtones and this seems to be the last ringtone geneartion. High quality mp3 ringtones are used now for your phone to ring with your favorite song, a funny sound effect etc. You can either buy ringtones or get your free ringtones from several sites offering a great variety of high quality ringtones. Just enjoy!

Unlimited videos on iPhone/iPod Touch

Nowadays, people are always in a rush. They don’t have time even for eating, drinking, and sleeping ….. entertainment is just too far away. For example just look at me, I am busy with my work so much that I don’t even remember when was the last time I watched a movie or a television serial. The only thing that I have is a mobile and an iPod and that’s it. And sometimes when I turn on a TV, my phone rings and I have to go to work. I feel like something is missing out of my life. I really miss my old days.

But now thanks to AvotmV, I have my life back. It’s a leading video delivery platform for iPhone/iPod Touch and other web-enabled mobile devices which enable users to search, personalize and play videos from the Internet no matter where you are. Believe it or not but Avot mV is the first of its kind giving mobile users unlimited access to any web-based video. Just check out Avot mV - Product Site or its Corporate Site. There are billions of videos posted on the web from where you can easily search according to your preference. Avot Media is an innovator in intelligent search that helps to achieve near real-time streaming and personalization of video delivery to web-enabled mobile devices. Many people may think that the quality of the video must be terrible but before you make any judgments let me tell you that the video quality is as if you were watching a video in your desktop or a TV set and the transfer of the content is much faster than earlier mobile video solutions. The barriers like jitter, delays and grainy video quality have completely been eliminated. So, go to avotmv.com during your leisure time wherever you are and start watching videos that you like.

You can visit Avot’s official blog if you want more detail on it.

RIM BlackBerry 8820

AT&T and Research in Motion officially released the RIM BlackBerry 8820, the first BlackBerry to offer integrated Wi-Fi. The 820 supports 802.11a/ standards and is compliant with Wi-Fi security protocols, giving users another avenue to connect to the web – a good thing since the device shows no love for 3G just yet. It also continues to offer Bluetooth and GPS support lie it’s older sibling, the RIM BlackBerry 8800, as will as push e-mail and multimedia. It’s a device built with the business user in mind and definitely won’t have the mass appeal of a BlackBerry Pearl of BlackBerry Curve. There’s not even a camera option. That said, for the intended audience the 8820 will certainly deliver the goods and performance.

Dual SIM holder

Dual SIM holder is your solution if you want to get rid of the tension of buying 2 mobile phones because you got 2 SIM or getting the back and battery of your mobile time to time to change to another SIM. This is the simplest and cheapest solution that allows you to connect two SIM cards to your card slot.

It has many drawbacks too like it does not really work with both cards simultaneously. At a time only one SIM is active and the user has to turn off the mobile and back on to change to another SIM. Another kind of Dual SIM holder is there though in which SIM service is activated giving users the ability to switch to another SIM without turning off the mobile. Another big problem is that due to its bigger size it may not fit in some handsets. Hope they will make something else without these flaws someday.

Convert Your Mobile Into An Entertainment Jukebox

I’m sure everyone watches video in their TVs and desktops but I wonder how many people watch real-time videos in their mobile phones. It’s obvious that the number is very low because even the high priced, high quality web-enabled mobile phones display the videos with poor quality. Due to this people are sticking in front of their TV screen and desktops for high quality videos. But desktops and TV sets can’t be carried along wherever we go.

So, Avot Media has come up with Avot mV - a third-generation discovery, personalization and live video streaming service from internet for mobile users. AvotMedia is a leading company in intelligent search, near real-time streaming and personalization of video delivery to web-enabled mobile devices. Avot mV is first of its kind in the world of mobile and media streaming technology which removes all the barriers that limited the mobile users to less video selection and poor-quality display on their web-enabled mobile devices. For this, you need to download Avot mV from its corporate site or the product site. After that mobile users can choose from among billions of videos posted on the web and just with a click access the videos that they like to watch turning you mobile into an entertainment jukebox whenever you like. Currently, Avot mV supports Windows Mobile 5.0, Pocket PC, and Smartphone mobile devices but it’s constantly adding support for additional devices and operating systems.

For more information in Avot mV and its newer versions don’t forget to check out Avot Media Blog.

iPhone

I had heard about iPod and also about mobile Phones. These were very common. But iPhone was a little bit unusual and new to me. Just by its name I had guessed that it was something like a hybrid of iPod and mobile phone having features of both and I was right.

“The iPhone is a multimedia, Internet-enabled mobile phone designed and marketed by Apple Inc. It has a multi-touch screen with virtual keyboard and buttons. The iPhone's functions include those of a camera phone and a portable media player ("iPod"), in addition to text messaging and visual voicemail. It also offers Internet services including e-mail, web browsing, and local Wi-Fi connectivity. It is a quad-band mobile phone that uses the GSM standard, hence has international capability. It supports the Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) technology for higher speed and reliability.” - Wikipedia

So, iPhone’s a cool gadget to carry in your pocket. It’s stylish, multipurpose and has may attractive features. I’d love to have an iPhone.

OS for mobile devices

Windows Vista isn’t the only OS making its’ debut this year, as Microsoft also revamped its OS for mobile devices and formally introduced Windows Mobile 6 at 3GSM World Congress. Talking the reins from Windows Mobile 5, Windows Mobile 6 isn’t a complete overhaul of the OS; instead, it offers a number of useful enhancements that makes performing tasks easier and outs more powerful tolls into the hands of mobile professionals. We were particularly impressed with the new e-mail search functions, Mobile Office additions, and Windows Live integration, but we think Microsoft could have done a lot more. For e.g. multimedia is still kludged, requiring numerous steps to complete a simple task. Also, some of the enhanced functionally to Outlook and calendaring require that you see Exchange Server 2007. Despite there flaws, the new improvements make Windows Mobile 6 worth the upgrade.

A completely unique Nokia’s Aeon

It’s modern era and everyone’s got mobile. From children to old folks, big businessmen to beggars, everyone got a mobile. I take a look around myself and in my own family everyone is a proud holder of mobile. Everyone has different kinds of mobile. Some have high pixel camera, some have MP3/ MP4 player, some have different softwares and some have numerous games.

My point is just that mobile has become a commodity than a necessity. There are many brand and types of mobiles. Just couple of days before a friend of mine asked me what mobile he should buy. So, I did a small research on mobiles. As, Nokia is the biggest brand of mobile I searched for its models. There I saw something like a cigarette case with an extremely sleek and sexy look. It was actually Nokia’s latest concept phone - Aeon. I was surprised to know that it was really a mobile set. Aeon has two touch-sensitive panels mounted on a fuel-cell power pack replacing the traditional keypad.

I think it’s pretty cute and I’ll like to have one. Don’t know how much it will cost.

World’s most expensive mobile

Mobile phones are very much in fashion nowadays. They define the style and the money the person has in his pocket. I am carrying a Nokia 6230 which is I don’t even want to say, not very expensive mobile phone. But there are many types of mobiles that range from as less as $50 to at most $1,000,000. Can you believe it when I say U.S $1,000,000 for a mobile phone? I know I can’t. I just found about it through a friend’s site and I couldn’t help writing about it.

The most expensive mobile is Goldvish “Le million”, all covered with diamonds around it and costs US $1,000,000.

The second most expensive mobile phone is “Vertu Signature Cobra” which costs around US $310,000. It’s designed to look like a cobra around the mobile.

The third most expensive one is Sony’s “Black Diamond” which costs around US$300,000.

I am shocked that they make such expensive mobile phones. I wonder who carries such expensive mobiles. I mean US $1 million for a mobile phone is not a joke.
