Wi-Fi Detector T-Shirt

Here is another example on how much technology is advancing in today’s world and how much lazy it is making today’s people. All you must be familiar with wireless internet access technology called Wi-Fi. It’s a very popular term for Laptop users. Usually, we have to open up our Laptops to check if there is Wi-Fi internet access in that area or not. But now there is no need for that. There is a special shirt that displays the Wi-Fi signal strength to yourself and everyone around you.

Actually, it’s just looks like a normal t-shirt with an animated decal (with hook and loop fasteners) attached in front which you can peel off if you like to or when washing the shirt. Also there is a battery pack is concealed in a small pocket sewn inside the shirt. It shows a glowing bar on the front that dynamically changes with the fluctuation in Wi-Fi signal strength. I wonder if we can attach that animated decal in any of our shirts and make them a Wi-Fi Detector T-Shirt as well. One last thing …it can detect signals from only two networks, 802.11b and 802.11g but not at the same time. Whatever that means?

Best Broadband Service

The world is moving in a fast pace and if we are even a little slower than others we’ll be far behind. The same is with the internet connection. Dial-ups are worn out and out of age. The slow connections, slow browsing and difficulties with upload and download makes dial-ups almost useless in today’s context. Sometimes due to slower connection we miss important information and can’t take timely decisions due to which we have to bear huge loss. So it’s better to get rid of dial-ups and get a broadband instead. From where you might ask? Well, if I was looking for a broadband then I’d take connection speed and price both in mind before choosing anyone. I won’t just be looking for cheap broadband packages. I do have a web site in my mind - BT.com. It’s one of the UK's cheapest and one of the most complete broadband packages. There are several options among which ‘Option 1’ offers basic online security features, parental controls and 5GB download allowance everything you need to start enjoying the web at high speed. Not only is it cheap but the quality of BT is also great. It’s played a vital role in rapid expansion of broadband in UK. So, if you as well need the broadband and communication services, be sure you take the best choice out of the rest.

Satellite internet

The world is fast changing. Everyone is in hurry. Time is money nowadays and there is no time, not even a second to waste. People want fast action and quick decisions. Just by a click they want to get everything done. They didn’t want to go to malls whenever they needed to buy something, so they invented online shopping sites and online payment methods. They didn’t want to write in ledgers, so they built applications like Pumori, Tally and other accounting s/ws and databases to store the data. In these ways there are many other things that are contributing in making the world more technological.

Internet is one of the chief tools that are helping out there in this upgrade. Without internet world wouldn’t be the same as it is now and its future will be uncertain. Internet is what helps in flow of data and information. It is what enables people to communicate easily with each other though they are distant apart. Well, talking about the internet there are many types of internet connection that you can use (dial-up, cable net, satellite internet, etc). I use dial-up at home and I am suffering the consequences. The connection is so slow, it takes more that a minute to connect to my messenger, I can’t browse through pages quickly, my phone bills are high, and don’t even think of uploading and downloading big files. I am fade up with my connections, sometimes I wish I could throw my computer away.

Actually, I was planning to get cable net. All my friends have cable net in their home but the problem is that where I live cables can’t get in. So, I’m stuck which dial-up, but not for long. Satellite internet is here and soon I’ll get it. Satellite internet are much faster that dial-ups. With it you can surf as much as you like, download/upload big files faster and your phone bill won’t rise a bit. Hughesnet is one of the high-speed Internet solutions that provide satellite internet. Hughes net uses advanced satellite technology to give you a blazing-fast, always-on Internet connection almost anywhere. No cable or phone lines are required. Wherever you can you can get connected to the internet. May be a week or a two, then I’ll have it in my home too.

High Speed Broadband Service

It’s the modern era, the era of new technology and upgrades. In each and every field technology is taking over and replacing the old norms and values. The most important change of all is the use of internet by households. Nowadays there is computer in every house. People may not have a TV in there home but they sure do have a computer with internet connection. So, internet is nowadays accessible to everyone.
Even in the accessibility of the internet, there have been upgrades. In past, people used to have dial up internet connections but nowadays they are out of date. Those who are still using dial-up are suffering terribly with slow connections, slow browsing, difficulties in upload and download, and many other problems. The replacement of dial-up is broadband. Broadband will give you the high bandwidth and high data transfer capacity which is the necessity of the present context. With broadband you’ll get the speed that you want from your connection; the pages will load quickly, you can easily upload and download huge data….overall it will be much faster and efficient that the dial-ups.
If you’re also looking for a quality broadband service, then let me suggest you a name- BT which is a one of the world's leading providers of communications solutions and services operating in about 170 countries. It’s played a vital role in rapid expansion of broadband in UK. It’s broadband UK concept have made broadband accessible to more homes that they have access to main water. And it’s out now providing broadband service to the world. With it, you’ll get up to 8MB of download speed, wireless BT home hub, BT vision digital TV recorder and the best security ever for you connection. So, what are you waiting for… switch to BT broadband.

The latest fashion in the market is VoIP. An acronym for Voice over Internet Protocol and also called as Internet Phone, VoIP Phone has left traditional phone system far behind in the world of communication. Move to VoIP

There was a time when the public switched telephone system was primarily used for voice traffic. But with the advancement in technology and the interest of many packet-switching network operators in carrying voice over their data networks, VoIP phone systems were born. It’s just that the average person’s phone bill is probably larger than his Internet bill, so the data network operators just saw Internet telephony as a way to earn a large amount of additional money without having to put any new fiber in the ground. Anyways, in the market there are so many VoIP systems available. But the one by Xpander is the most flexible and user friendly that I found personally. It has got features like plug & play VoIP phones which work anywhere there is broadband, easily manageable voicemail, click to dial user and many more. Xpander’s Nimbus VoIP phones give total control over all phone system features and call activities. Also, it is giving out unlimited US calling and free dialing to any other Nimbus VoIP phone in the world. Shocked? Wait till you use it.

Network Adapters

The Network Adapter is the component that links a compute to the network. The adapter prepares the data for transmission, sends and receives data, and translates the data back into a computer-readable form.

Different types of components can function as network adapters. For example, you might use a modem to dial a phone line to connect from your computer to the Internet. Or, a special purpose adapter card might physically link your computer to a cable. Network adapter cards are sometimes called network interface card (NIC which is a more familiar term) or LAN cards.

The network adapter fits into an expansion slot inside the computer. The inside edge of the adapter is fitted with a connected that matched up to the computer’s internal bus. The bus is the pathway inside the computer that connects all the components to the computer’s CPU and memory. There are many different types of bus architectures and computers. Old bus architectures carried 8 bits of information at a time; newer buses are much faster, and carry 16, 0r 32 bits of information.

Sending message over the network

The fascinating thing about being in a network is the shared resources. One can easily access the resources of remote computer if it has permission for its access. Another important feature that I’ve realized is communication. The workstations in a network can communicate with each other. Better the communication better will be the result. Chat applications, video conferencing, net meeting are all the means by which workstations in remote place can communicate with each other. Other way that I just knew about is the ‘Messenger’ service of the Windows. It enables one to transmit net send and Alerter services messages between clients and serves. For this, first you have to start this service. Then in the command prompt type ‘net send computername message’ and enter. The message will be send to that computername. If you want to send the same message to all the clients of the workgroup the instead of ‘computername’ type ‘*’. I think it’s the easiest way of sending message over the network and I frequently use it in my college to send jokes to my friends when we are in the lab.

Accessing network resources

This particular trick has also been tried in local network (my college LAN) only and not quite sure if it works over the internet. My theory says it should work; internet is a network after all. There are times when you need the files that are located in some other computer in the network and you are too lazy to go that other computer to get it. The easy way is to share that file over the network. By sharing those file other sort of gain the access to use that file, copy or even modify, if those privileges are given. The shared file will appear in others ‘Shared Files’ and is accessible to anyone who is in the network.

Other way around is using a simple line of command for accessing the resources on other’s computer. For this, the process goes a follows:

  • Start -> run
  • Type ‘\\computername\drivename$’ (without quotes) and enter
  • Now if the drive is shared it should open without any problem else it will ask to enter the username and password of the domain administrator for authentication.

This process is also one of the ways you can hack into others computer. But for this you need to know the right username and its password.

Internet threats

Internet is common now days and with internet threat relating to it is also widespread. People who are very good at programming, who know how computer system and networking works very well engage in hacking others computers or spreading worms, virus, Trojan horse, etc to irritate users. Since, internet links the computer of the whole world in a single network, anyone from anywhere in the world can have access to any computer in the world connected to the internet. So, it’s a big ease for the users to do their part. Most common internet threats we can come across in our daily lives is hacking (obsessive use or unauthorized entry and use of computer system) and computer virus and worms.

One thing users can to protect themselves from such threats is use firewall and update their antivirus softwares regularly. I won’t say that using firewalls and updated antivirus s/w completely immunes your system against such threats but it surely protects you system to certain extend. Users too on theirs side should be careful while surfing and opening visiting sites or clicking any link.
